Where MUST we place our hope?

We in America are ill-advised to think our present debt ceiling crisis “resolution” (a spit in the ocean as one would see it) foreshadows any true solving of our fiscal (or any other) difficulties.

From Alexandr Solzhenitsyn’s 1978 address at Harvard University:

We have placed too much hope in political and social reforms, only to find out that we were being deprived of our most precious possession: our spiritual life.   (emphasis mine)

The entire address can be found here.

In the early, post-modern years of the 21st century, we appear desirous of persisting in our spiritual laxity and our selfishness.  Our hope, directionless at best. Kyrie eleison!  If we hope not in the LORD, we are in perilous sad straits indeed!  See Psalm 39; Psalm 71; Psalm 130:5; Lamentations 3: 18, 21, 24; Romans 12: 12 for where we should find hope.

Holy Scripture is loaded with hope passages, by the way!

Are we tending well our spiritual lives??
