Should We Pray for the Defeat of ISIS, or Their Conversion?

The answer to this question probably will surprise you. Worth noting and sharing and praying!

From the article: “We can pray for gospel rootedness in the Middle East, and we can pray to light up their world like the Fourth of July, at the same time.”

A Prayer for Increase in Righteousness and for Righteous People

The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. ~James 5:16b

Gracious Lord,

In your word is the precious promise of great power to righteous prayers. Grant most merciful Father, for your name’s sake, a great increase in righteousness for and among and emanating outward from the sheep of your pasture. More righteous and more righteousness bestow upon them, Good Lord, that Your kingdom come, Your will be done, and that the saving power of Your ἀγάπη be manifest in real transforming glory!

All for Your sake, and in the mighty name of Your Son our Savior, Jesus Messiah,

Intercessors, please pray for more righteousness and for more righteous people.

A Prayer for Those Affected by the Colorado Wildfires

A prayer in light of this:

O God, heavenly Father, who by thy Son Jesus Christ
hast promised to all those who seek thy kingdom and its
righteousness all things necessary to sustain their life: Send
us, we entreat thee, in this time of need, such moderate rain
and showers, that we may have surcease from wildfires and receive the fruits of the earth, to our comfort and to thy honor; through Jesus Christ our
Lord. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer, adapted)

It may be July 5, but our country still needs prayer!

From the 1928 Book of Common Prayer:

For Our Country.

ALMIGHTY God, who hast given us this good land for our heritage; We humbly beseech thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favour and glad to do thy will. Bless our land with honourable industry, sound learning, and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogancy, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in thy Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fail; all which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for Congress.

¶ To be used during their Session.

MOST gracious God, we humbly beseech thee, as for the people of these United States in general, so especially for their Senate and Representatives in Congress assembled; that thou wouldest be pleased to direct and prosper all their consultations, to the advancement of thy glory, the good of thy Church, the safety, honour, and welfare of thy people; that all things may be so ordered and settled by their endeavours, upon the best and surest foundations, that peace and happiness, truth and justice, religion and piety, may be establish among us for all generations. These and all other necessaries, for them, for us, and thy whole Church, we humbly beg in the Name and mediation of Jesus Christ, our most blessed Lord and Saviour. Amen.

For Courts of Justice.

ALMIGHTY God, who sittest in the throne judging right; We humbly beseech thee to bless the courts of justice and the magistrates in all this land; and give unto them the spirit of wisdom and understanding, that they. may discern the truth and impartially administer the law in the fear of thee alone; through him who shall come to be our judge, thy Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Prayer Request – 6/1/2011 – pm edition

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This evening a dear family friend of ours quickly told my wife and me about a friend of hers. They’re both high school students, BTW.  At a swimming team practice, the young man was seen to be face down at the bottom of the pool. To make a long story short, the young man has suffered a closed head injury, and is on a ventilator.  No spinal cord injury has been found.

Please add to your prayer lists!  Thanks!!!

We’ll post updates as they come in…

Urgent Prayer Alert for Egypt

We are all watching historic events in Egypt. We’ve prayed for years for the Muslim world, keep praying this through.

The World Evangelical Fellowship (WEF) has added: The WEA communicated to the Evangelical Fellowship of Egypt (EFE) its concern over the current unrest in the country and asked how the WEA community can effectively pray. The EFE confirmed that the church all over Egypt is united in prayer for the country and called on the church globally to pray with them.  Since our contact with EFE, the situation has become more violent and unstable.

Nobody knows what the changes in Egypt will be, but evangelicals in Egypt know that God is in control. Though they are a small minority, they are deeply committed to being good citizens and contributing positively to the future health and development of their nation.  They are praying for:

* wisdom for all leaders in Egypt – both for the present government and for the future leadership of the country,

* safety of the young people in Tahrir Square – some of them are Christian, some of them are Muslim. The Christians believe strongly that most Muslims and Christians are united in their common concern for the welfare of the nation,

* peaceful change,

* positive outcomes that will benefit the country as a whole, and will bring glory to God,
* positive impact on the region and the wider world as a result of the change in Egypt.

Some years ago, the Evangelical Fellowship of Egypt (EFE) developed prayer networks nationally.  In recent days, they have contacted these networks to urge them to pray.  Christians (evangelical, Coptic, Roman Catholic) are uniting in prayer in homes all over the country for the welfare of their beloved nation.

The WEA calls on the global Church to join them in prayer, as this situation unfolds – the WEA remains deeply committed to the Egyptian Christians and to the nation’s present and future religious liberty.

Thank you, God bless, Ron and the 30-Days team.
